India stands on the brink of a major tourism resurgence. With unprecedented global visibility following the G20 Presidency and rapid development across airports and highways, the nation is now equipped to welcome a new wave of international travellers. Ravi Gosain, President, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), shares his insights on what’s next for India’s inbound sector and how collaboration and consistency will define its global success.

India’s Infrastructure and Image on the Rise
India today is far more prepared than ever before to host a surge in inbound tourism. The successful G20 Presidency gave our country unmatched visibility on the world stage, positioning India as a modern, capable, and experience-rich destination. The development of iconic convention venues like Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi has further elevated our image as a hub for global conferences and events, firmly establishing India’s credibility in the MICE segment.
In addition, the rapid expansion of airports, improved highways, and world-class hospitality infrastructure have significantly enhanced the overall travel experience.
Bridging gaps in facilitation and global outreach
While we have made remarkable progress, I believe there are still some persistent challenges that need attention. Ensuring smoother e-visa accessibility, enhancing international air connectivity, and sustaining strong overseas marketing efforts remain key priorities for inbound growth. We need to simplify visa procedures, expand international routes, and amplify India’s presence at global trade shows and digital platforms. It is essential that the growing awareness about India converts into actual visitor arrivals. Consistent and impactful marketing will help position India more effectively among global travellers and tour operators.
Partnerships and policy consistency: The Road Ahead
I firmly believe that continued collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the private sector is crucial for building a stronger inbound ecosystem. Predictable and supportive policies, renewed international campaigns, and financial incentives for tourism businesses will help sustain momentum and attract quality inbound traffic.
Events like WTM London serve as excellent platforms to present a unified “Incredible India” narrative to the world. At IATO, we work closely with global tour operators, travel media, and government bodies to promote India’s vast offerings — from heritage and culture to wellness, adventure, and luxury travel. Our goal at IATO is to position India as a year-round, sustainable destination through meaningful partnerships and consistent international engagement.
