In a recent move by MoT to boost inbound tourism, E-tourist visa fees for 30 days has come down to USD 10 during the lean period from April to June. The E-Tourist Visa Fees will go up to USD 25 during peak tourism period from July to March. A new five-year e-tourist visa will be introduced with USD 80 fee and a one year e-tourist visa with USD 40 fee. The move has been welcomed warmly by the travel fraternity, who has been negotiating the same with the ministry for quite sometime. IATO, the apex association of tour operators played a major role in bringing this policy change by doing several representations to the government. The step has been taken in light of the hon’ble PM’s vision to get 20 million tourists to India by 2020.
