Sirmaur — In a dynamic celebration of National Tourism Day, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur played host to esteemed industry stalwarts. The event featured the Industry Advisory Board (IAB), a distinguished panel comprising leaders from renowned firms such as IndiGo, American Express GBT, Cordelia Cruises, and more.
Over the span of two days, the IAB members actively participated in engaging discussions with faculty and students, sharing invaluable insights and expertise aimed at shaping the future of career development in the field.
The inaugural day kicked off with thought-provoking deliberations led by Director Prof. Prafulla Agnihotri and faculty member Dr. Sana Maidullah. Industry leaders took the stage to share their knowledge and insights, guiding the refinement of the MBA Tourism Management program and curriculum. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening IIM Sirmaur’s position in the tourism industry, followed by a productive networking dinner.
Day two began with a collaborative tree planting initiative at the institute’s permanent campus, fostering strengthened connections among participants. A subsequent Career Enhancement Workshop facilitated one-on-one interactions between students and IAB members, providing students with valuable knowledge and guidance from respected leaders. As an added highlight, Shehaat, a self-help group, set up a stall on campus, showcasing indigenous Himachali food and handicraft items.
The day ended with a vibrant celebration of Himachal Day, featuring a traditional Nati dance performance and the presentation of Chambal Thaal as mementos to distinguished guests.
In addition to these festivities, an IndiGo case competition challenged students to showcase their analytical and problem-solving skills. The winning team was duly recognized with medals and certificates of appreciation.
Through this strategic initiative, IIM Sirmaur successfully achieved its dual objectives: solidifying its partnership with the tourism industry and promoting the rich local culture, thereby enhancing IIM Sirmaur’s international visibility.
