Dubbed the Blu Xone, this wellness zone draws its name from “Blue Zones”—geographic regions where people live exceptionally long and healthy lives. Now, that same philosophy is available to Mumbaikars and globe-trotting guests in a plush, New York Art Deco-inspired setting. According to hotel management, this bold addition stems from a vision to offer more than traditional massages and spa indulgences.
“We wanted to bring in the latest in wellness technology and offer therapies that enhance lifestyle and longevity,” said Nitan Chhatwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Shrem Group, which owns Fairmont Mumbai.
Led by wellness expert Dr. Rashmi Ambastha—formerly associated with leading naturopathy centers like Jindal Nature Care and Nimba Nature Cure—the program emphasizes recovery and rehabilitation using physics-backed treatments. “Our focus is scientific, not cosmetic,” Dr. Ambastha said, highlighting the application of passive exercise through therapies like cryotherapy and IVT.
In contrast to destination spas in places like Shillim or Visakhapatnam, Fairmont’s wellness floor offers a convenient urban alternative. Guests undergo a thorough health screening before being prescribed treatments. Cryotherapy, for example, involves a three-minute exposure to extreme cold to trigger the body’s healing response—a service that costs ₹6,500 per session. HBOT and IVT are also priced similarly and come recommended for chronic fatigue, inflammation, and even post-cancer recovery.
But Blu Xone is just the start. An entire floor is devoted to wellness, including a high-tech gym powered by Italian-made Technogym machines and AI-based wellness assessments that determine one’s “Wellness Age.” Salt saunas, custom massages, and dietary consultations further bolster the holistic experience.
Rajiv Kapoor, General Manager of Fairmont Mumbai, emphasizes that wellness is integrated into the very fabric of the hotel. “From UV air filters that reduce AQI levels indoors to tailored meals from our chefs, every detail is curated to support health and longevity,” Kapoor stated.
While health is at the forefront, indulgence has not been sidelined. The hotel houses five dining venues, including Oryn, specializing in Sichuan and Cantonese fare, and The Merchants, a globally inspired food hall reminiscent of Mumbai’s dabbawalas. For those seeking a sophisticated nightcap, The Hedonist jazz bar delivers, with curated cocktails inspired by global travel.
In a city often marked by chaos and pollution, Fairmont Mumbai’s longevity program represents a fusion of science and luxury—an urban sanctuary where wellness is not just a lifestyle but a destination in itself.
