The Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality announced that the Tel Aviv Marathon 2025, Israel’s largest and most prestigious sporting event, will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025. Early registration, with special discounted rates, is now open for all runners—both amateur and professional—in a variety of race categories and will remain open until December 1, 2024.
What Makes the Tel Aviv Marathon a Global Model of Sustainability?
Beyond being one of Israel’s most significant sports events, the Tel Aviv Marathon leads with environmental and social initiatives aimed at preserving the planet and strengthening community ties. The marathon integrates advanced green principles from registration to the event’s conclusion:
- Reducing Plastic Usage:
Water stations along the course will offer biodegradable cups instead of plastic bottles, reducing bottle usage by over 60%. The few 1.5-liter bottles used for refilling will be collected and recycled after the event. - Using Recycled Materials:
Race kits will be distributed in bags made from recycled fabric. Participants can choose between purchasing a branded running shirt or receiving a discount on the registration fee, contributing to reducing the impact of the textile industry. - Green Social Contribution – “Pay It Forward”:
As part of the marathon, participants are invited to bring sports clothing (excluding shoes) for donation. The clothing will be washed, folded, and distributed to charities to support those in need. - Reducing Printing and Paper Usage:
The marathon guide will be provided exclusively in digital format. All promotional signage used during the event will be collected and recycled afterward.

- Full Marathon (42.195 km)
- Half Marathon (21 km)
- 10K Race
