According to an official statement released by the association –
The Year 2020 has been something that no one ever expected or imagined it to be. While we are at the fag end of this year, we hope that the coming new year 2021 will bring in the normalcy and the lost exuberance. Over the last few months we all have gone through testing times with what is happening around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic and we as the travel fraternity have been hit the most. We all are in this together & surely we all will come out stronger helping and supporting each other to the best of our capacity and capability.
Domestic business has started to pick up slowly and our industry is taking baby steps to heal from the aftermath of the pandemic Covid 19. Although its slow, but as an old proverb says “the journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step”. Having said that we are seeing some movement in business with some leisure and business travel, though it will still take some more time for travel to return to its pre COVID levels.
Numerous emails were sent to government bodies such as ministry of finance, ministry of tourism, for bailout packages as part of Covid relief but all in vain. The whole industry was disappointed that there was no relief provided by the Government.
As a step toward a humble relief to our members, the Board along with their respective committees have decided to waive off the annual membership fees for the Financial Year 2020-2021. Member’s who have paid membership fee for three years valid till March 2021 will get an extension till March 2022.
The General Secretary read out the activities organized by ETAA and enlisted the various workshops, seminars, certifications programs, webinars, trade shows, roadshows etc. the associations has participated in during the last 12 months. So on that note we all are hopeful for a better 2021 with more business opportunities. The Chairperson thanked all the members and also thanked media for their continuous support.
