With 9.88 million overnight foreign guests in the first half of 2025—a 6% increase over the same period in 2024—Dubai has solidified its position as a major worldwide travel destination, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. In keeping with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to place the city among the top three tourist destinations in the world, this milestone highlights the emirate’s aspirational pursuit of excellence in tourism, infrastructure, and global connection.
With Mumbai ranked among the top source markets and carrying 1.2 million passengers through Dubai International Airport alone, India continues to play a major role in this growth. Indian tourists looking for luxury, adventure, and convenience have responded well to the strong cultural and economic linkages between India and Dubai, which have been strengthened by celebrity-driven marketing initiatives.
Well-planned international outreach programmes that highlight Dubai’s diversity have helped the city’s tourism industry flourish. Millions of people have watched well-known ads like “Find Your Story” and “Dubai, Ready for a Surprise?”, especially in India, where popularity has increased due to Bollywood and cricket stars. By providing Indian visitors with perks like free hotel stays and inexpensive attraction passes, Emirates Airline has also been instrumental. With 46 million passengers handled in the first half of 2025—a 2.3% increase over 2024—Dubai International Airport, the busiest airport in the world for international travel, saw Mumbai rank among its top ten destinations, along with London and Riyadh.
Due to its strong connectivity, Dubai has become a popular travel destination for Indian families, business travellers, and independent travellers. Dubai’s allure to Indian tourists looking for both innovation and relaxation has been further strengthened by cultural landmarks like the Museum of the Future, which has drawn 4 million visits since opening in 2022, and the city’s vast parks, which welcomed 16.7 million visitors in 2025.
With collaborations between Dubai’s tourist authorities and Indian travel businesses strengthening bilateral ties, Dubai remains an important commerce and travel hub for India. In the second half of 2025, flagship events like the Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Fitness Challenge are anticipated to draw even more Indian tourists, adding to a busy event schedule that has already seen Dubai bid for 249 international conferences. Al Maktoum International Airport’s ongoing $35 billion expansion demonstrates the city’s dedication to satisfying growing demand from important markets, such as India.
