Sri Lanka showcases island as premier wedding destination
Sri Lanka Tourism has launched a major push to position the island as a premier wedding destination, inviting Indian couples to “Celebrate Weddings in Paradise.” In September 2025, it successfully concluded multi-city luxury wedding shows across India, showcasing top Sri Lankan hotels, resorts, heritage venues, and wedding services. The events connected leading Sri Lankan stakeholders with Indian wedding planners, travel agents, and media.
FHRAI to host 55th annual Convention in Bengaluru
The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) will host its 55th Annual Convention from September 18–20, 2025, in Bengaluru, themed “FutureScape 2047: Redefining Hospitality for a New India.” The event will bring together hospitality, tourism, and government leaders to chart the sector’s growth toward India’s centenary year of independence. Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, will inaugurate the convention, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivering a special address.
JNTO brings back anime & culture festival in Delhi
Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Delhi Office, will participate in “Mela Mela! Anime Japan!!” 2025, a two-day celebration of Japanese anime, culture, and Visit Japan promotion. Scheduled for September 13–14 at Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden, New Delhi, the event is open to the public with free entry. Part of Japan Month (September–October 2025), the festival follows last year’s success with 50,000 visitors and promises anime showcases, cosplay competitions, and travel promotions.
Jaisalmer and Carcassonne officially twinned
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, has been officially twinned with Carcassonne, France, on August 30, 2025, marking a historic cultural partnership. Both medieval cities, famed for their fortresses, share striking architectural similarities, earning Jaisalmer the nickname “Carcassonne of the Desert.” The initiative, sparked by a 2021 France 2 TV report and championed by the Maharaja of Jaisalmer, has grown through exchanges and visits.
