Hotels sold out as tourists throng Mysuru to witness Dasara festivities
Though the state government has decided to celebrate Dasara in a simple manner for the second consecutive year in view of prevailing Covit-19 situation, tourists from many parts of state are thronging culture city to witness the festivities. There has been a heavy rush for booking of hotel rooms and lodges. Last year, there was no festive spirit as hotels witnessed poor business and tourist spots remained largely deserted as people kept away out of fear of contracting the virus. This time the situation seems to have changed as tourism activity is bustling across the district. The Chamundeshwari Electric Supply Company (CESC) has also responded positively by extending illumination of various important places in Mysuru including Chamundeshwari Hills for an extra hour since October 7, 2021.
Fiji to reopen to International Travellers in December
Fiji commemorated Fiji Day and 51 years of the island nation’s independence on October 10, 2021. On this monumental day, the country’s PM has announced that Fiji will once again be opened to international visitors from December 1, 2021. This official announcement comes off the heels of Fiji reaching its goal to get 80% of its eligible population vaccinated with both doses. While travel restrictions will be lifted in December, travellers from India keen to visit Fiji shores may need to wait a little longer due to the continued travel restrictions in place between the two countries. Travellers to Fiji must be fully vaccinated (children under 18 can travel with a vaccinated adult) from a “Travel Partner” country (defined as one with high vaccination rates and low-test positivity rates), as well as providing a negative PCR test taken 72-hours prior to departure.
