The Ministry of Tourism is responsible for the promotion of Tourism in the country and implements various schemes for creation of infrastructure, marketing and promotion, and skill development initiatives for tourism, which can be leveraged for the promotion and development of homestays and small hotels.

San Francisco retains its culinary crown with new Michelin honours
The recently concluded 2023 MICHELIN Guide California awards made one thing clear: San Francisco remains the culinary capital of the Golden State. The city boasts 27 Michelin-starred restaurants, and the San Francisco Bay Area is now home to 50 of the 87 California restaurants awarded Michelin stars. Two San Francisco restaurants – Aphotic, a restaurant specializing in sustainable and dry-aged seafood, and Nari, a Thai restaurant – earned their first Michelin stars.
AIX Connect receives Regulatory Approval
AIX Connect, operating as AirAsia India, and a subsidiary of Air India, announced a major milestone in its ongoing integration process with Air India Express. The airline has now received regulatory approvals to operate its flights under the ‘Air India Express’ branding.
“India, with its burgeoning middle class and evolving consumer preferences, has emerged as a significant player in the global outbound tourism landscape. The Indian tourist, with their unique tastes and cultural nuances, presents a vast untapped market for global tourism providers. In 2022 almost 20 million Indians have travelled overseas. We are expected to reach the pre-pandemic levels this year and full recovery is expected by 2024. India’s outbound is growing much faster than any other country. However, to achieve anything, it is important for stakeholders to work together to nurture and maximise the benefits of outbound tourism.”
