Marriott International signs agreement to open a new JW Marriott
Marriott International has signed an agreement with Oberoi Realty and their subsidiary Incline Realty, to debut company’s flagship brand, Marriott Hotels, in Mumbai along with the iconic JW Marriott brand, anticipated to be the third in the city. Both hotels, the JW Marriott Hotel Thane Garden City and Mumbai Marriott Hotel Sky City are expected to open over 2027- 2028.
FHRAI to host ‘Travel for Life Tourism Sustainability Summit’
The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) jointly with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and Hotel Association of India will host ‘Travel for Life; Tourism Sustainability Summit’. To be held under MoT’s Travel for Life program, the event will take place on March 8 in New Delhi.
Domestic Air Traffic up by 4.7% in January 2024
An estimated 13.1 million people travelled by air in India in January, a 4.7% increase from the previous year, according to data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Despite this growth, passenger numbers dropped from December’s record high of 13.8 million. The decline was likely the result of frequent flight cancellations for various reasons.
Emirates SkyCargo to expand operations in India
Emirates SkyCargo is evaluating plans to add three destinations in India by June to capitalise on growing trade opportunities in the country. India is among top five markets for Emirates cargo business accounting for around eight per cent of its overall freight volume. The airline flew over 1.8 million tonnes of cargo between January-December 2023.
