Neurodiversity is a concept that neurological differences are to be recognized and respected as any other human variation. These differences can include Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other cognitive variations. At The Lalit Group, we believe that every student, regardless of their neurological makeup, deserves access to quality education and support systems that cater to their unique needs.
Dr. Jyotsna Suri, CMD of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in building an inclusive society. “Education and empowerment are critical for individuals from all walks of life. This initiative is a significant step towards equipping neurodivergent students with the necessary skill sets they need to succeed in the hospitality industry,” said Dr. Suri.
Dr. Mallika Nadda, Chairperson of Special Olympics Bharat, served as the chief guest for the event. In her address, she highlighted the ongoing partnership between The Lalit and Special Olympics Bharat. “The Lalit Group have been our happiness partner, supporting Special Olympics Bharat events and providing meaningful employment opportunities for our athletes. I am deeply appreciative of the Apna Heera project and its efforts to mainstream neurodivergent individuals with an opportunity for higher education which will also ensure and assure placement at The LaLiT,” Dr. Nadda stated.
Pia Marwah, the visionary behind the Apna Heera project, also shared her motivation and the project’s goals. She emphasized the importance of recognizing and nurturing the unique strengths of neurodivergent individuals. Pia’s words resonated deeply with the audience, “Apna Heera aims to mainstream people with diverse disabilities, providing education &job placements in safe environments. By raising funds for scholarships, we can help neurodivergent students unlock their potential and transform their lives through education. Let us be the advocates and supporters, students on neurodivergent spectrum need.”
Mr. Keshav Suri, founder of the Keshav Suri Foundation, also shared his thoughts on the initiative. “Our foundation is dedicated to promoting inclusivity and equality. Every student deserves the opportunity to thrive in an environment that understands and supports their unique way of learning. This fundraiser is not just about raising money, but about building a community of support and acceptance for neurodivergent students,” he said.
The event successfully raised significant funds to support two young adults on the neuro-divergent spectrum to study degree and diploma program at The Lalit Suri Hospitality School.
