The tropical Thai island will now be Akasa Air‘s sixth international destination as the airline enters Southeast Asia with the announcement of daily direct flights from Mumbai to Phuket. Bookings are presently being accepted on the website of Akasa Air and major online travel agencies, allowing passengers to experience seamless connection between two important tourist and trade destinations as of September 20, 2025.
Phuket, which has long been a favourite among Indian tourists due to its immaculate beaches, exciting nightlife, and rich cultural legacy, will benefit from this new route in terms of both tourism and bilateral trade between Thailand and India. The airline would serve both business and leisure passengers looking for flexibility by providing convenient morning and evening departures and arrivals in India.
Praveen Iyer, Akasa Air’s co-founder and chief commercial officer, commented on the expansion and said he was excited about the airline’s entry into Southeast Asia, pointing out that the route will serve India’s expanding number of “globally curious” passengers while fostering stronger cultural and economic ties.
Co-Founder and SVP International Neelu Khatri emphasised that the action is in line with Akasa Air’s objective of enabling everyone to tour the world at a reasonable cost. With this calculated move, Akasa Air will be able to accommodate the growing demand for direct international flights from India while providing travellers with first-rate flying experiences and easier access to one of Asia’s most popular vacation spots.
