Tamarind Global curates Indian wedding experience at DWP Congress 2026

The Indian Wedding took centre stage in a never-before-seen format at the globally celebrated DWP Congress 2026.

Tamarind Global Weddings curates Indian wedding experience at DWP Congress 2026As the main Gala Dinner Event Partner, Tamarind Global Weddings hosted the gala evening for an international gathering of wedding planners and industry professionals. All transportation and logistics was hosted by Tamarind Global Holidays, which acted as the main DMC partner.  Tamarind Global Weddings used the proverbial traditional lens to present Indian wedding traditions through décor, entertainment, food, and event production.

The evening started with a 45-minute Baraat, bringing the noise, colour and movement associated with an Indian wedding to the forefront. From there, guests moved into a specially constructed, air-conditioned venue at Jashn Bagh, Fairmont Udaipur. Spread across approximately 15,000–20,000 square feet, the space had been created from the ground up for around 300 guests.

The design stayed close to its Indian roots. At Jash Bagh, Fairmont Udaipur, Tamarind Global Weddings took the Indian wedding experience beyond the five senses to explore the traditions and beliefs that give it meaning. While the prominent foundations like the backdrop colours, lights, flowers, music, food, etc., brought the senses seamlessly together, it was the notable elements including Mauli, Prasad, Alankaar, and Kumkum that reflected customs deeply embedded in Indian celebrations. The Shree Yantra-inspired seating highlighted harmony and union, while the Mauli Wishing Tree enabled the guests to tie a thread and make a wish. A Doli photo opportunity and the Sindoor and Mangalsutra ceremonies, accompanied by fireworks, brought timeless wedding traditions into the evening, offering the 300 global wedding professionals attending DWP Congress 2026 a sensorial experience of the cultural celebration.

The entertainment showcased distinct forms of Indian performance with new-age inspirations. Ghoomar Meets West offered a fresh presentation of the Rajasthani folk dance, while Chhau presented martial-art traditions of the dance. Electro Bharatanatyam paired the classical dance form with contemporary sounds. Later in the evening, the main band, A26, took over with a live performance that shifted the mood and turned the dinner into a more energetic celebration.

Tamarind Global Weddings curates Indian wedding experience at DWP Congress 2026

Speaking about the experience, Mahesh Shirodkar, Managing Director, Tamarind Global, said, “For us, the idea was to show what an Indian wedding can feel like when its traditional elements are presented in a new setting. We did not want the evening to follow a fixed gala format. The Baraat, the design, the performances and the music were planned to take guests through different moods, much like a wedding celebration itself.”

A noticeable part of the experience came down to the smaller details. Tables were styled with mindfully sourced florals, textiles, brass accents and banana leaves, while lighting was used to change the character of the venue through different stages of the evening. These details were intended to give the visiting wedding professionals a closer look at the range of design possibilities that Indian celebrations can offer.

The gala also highlighted Tamarind Global Weddings’ ‘Follow the Thread’ pre-event campaign, which had offered guests small indications of the concept ahead of the Congress. Individual elements, including the Mauli thread, the venue, entertainment and décor, were revealed gradually rather than giving away the complete picture.

With the gala, Tamarind Global Weddings used one evening at DWP Congress to put several aspects of Indian weddings into one experience, i.e., from the Baraat and traditional symbolism to contemporary performances, detailed décor and live music. For an audience of wedding professionals visiting Udaipur from different countries around the world, it offered a closer look at how Indian wedding traditions can be showcased for celebrations.
