Strong Growth from India
India continues to emerge as an increasingly important source market for Finland. Lapland recorded an 89% increase in Indian overnight stays in 2024 compared with 2023, followed by a further 20% growth in 2025, demonstrating sustained demand rather than a one-year surge.
Finland also attracts the highest number of Indian overnight stays among the Nordic countries, giving the destination a strong competitive position and growing brand recognition in India.
The workshop showcased Finland beyond the Northern Lights, highlighting Arctic adventures, luxury accommodation, pristine nature, authentic culture, wellness, sustainability and year-round travel experiences.

Sara Sodhi Juneja, Founder & CEO of Sara Consulting Services, said, “The Indian market is evolving rapidly, with travellers placing greater value on unique experiences, quality and deeper connections with a destination. Finland is exceptionally well positioned to meet this demand. The continued growth from India, particularly to Rovaniemi, reflects the strong trust and interest the destination has built among Indian travellers and the trade”
Long-Term Opportunity
With rising demand for luxury, experiential and nature-based travel, India represents a long-term, high-value opportunity for Finland. The successful three-city workshop further reinforces Sara Consulting Services’ commitment to strengthening tourism partnerships between Finland and India and creating new commercial opportunities for both markets.
