A total of 75 Malaysian travel industry players participated under the Tourism Malaysia Pavilion, comprising travel agents, hoteliers, tourism product owners and tourism organisations, including Tourism Melaka, Tourism Selangor and Sabah Tourism, alongside MyCEB, with Batik Air serving as the official airline partner. The Malaysian delegation is led by YBhg. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Chairman, Tourism Malaysia.
“Malaysia successfully achieved its 2025 tourism target with 42.2 million international visitor arrivals, representing an 11.2 per cent increase compared to 2024. India remains one of our key source markets, contributing significantly to this achievement and continuing to play an important role as we intensify our efforts towards Visit Malaysia 2026. The continuation of Malaysia’s visa-free entry policy for Indian nationals has further enhanced travel confidence and accessibility, complemented by a robust calendar of major and signature events planned nationwide under VM2026. Through these combined efforts, Tourism Malaysia remains firmly committed to strengthening our market presence and deepening strategic partnerships in India to drive higher visitor arrivals in the year ahead,” said Datuk Manoharan.
In conjunction with OTM 2026, Tourism Malaysia is organising a series of targeted promotional initiatives, including the Malaysia Food & Culture Promotion at the Fairmont Hotel Mumbai from January 30 to February 8, 2026, the Malaysia Wedding Seminar in collaboration with Wedding Sutra, and the Malaysia MICE Seminar with TravTalk. These initiatives strategically position Malaysia across high-growth segments such as gastronomy tourism, destination weddings and the MICE sector.
Malaysia’s accessibility from India continues to strengthen, supported by 242 weekly direct flights from 14 Indian cities, offering a total weekly seat capacity of 46,157 to key Malaysian gateways including Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi. This enhanced air connectivity plays a vital role in facilitating travel and sustaining growth from the Indian market. Since the introduction of the visa-free entry policy for Indian nationals in December 2023, visitor arrivals from India have recorded strong growth of 14.6 per cent, reaching over 1.6 million visitors in 2025, reflecting renewed confidence in Malaysia as a preferred travel destination.
Following OTM 2026, Tourism Malaysia will further strengthen its engagement in the Indian market through a post-OTM sales mission and roadshow to Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore and Bangalore from February 8 to 14, 2026, in addition to its participation in SATTE New Delhi at the end of February 2026. These initiatives reaffirm Malaysia’s long-term commitment to the Indian market and the successful delivery of Visit Malaysia 2026.
