Germany is witnessing sustained momentum from the Indian outbound travel market, supported by increasing travel intent, stronger connectivity and a growing inclination towards immersive, experience-focused journeys. Over the past few years, interest from Indian travellers has continued to build steadily, reinforcing Germany’s strong resonance as a long-haul destination.
This positive trajectory is reflected in travel performance indicators. Indian travellers recorded over 104,066 overnight stays in Germany in the month of October 2025, highlighting consistent demand across leisure and business travel segments. In a further sign of market strength, overnight from India in October 2025 were 16.5% higher than pre-pandemic 2019 levels, pointing to sustained growth rather than a temporary rebound. According to GNTB data, India recorded 775,294 overnight stays from January until October 2025.
Air connectivity remains a key enabler of this momentum. Data from the GNTB Dashboard shows that approximately 296 flights are currently operating between India and Germany, providing enhanced access to multiple German cities and supporting more flexible, multi-city itineraries. Travel volume continues to hold firm and reflect strong recent momentum.
Indian travellers are also spending more time in the destination. The average length of stay now exceeds nine nights, reflecting a preference for deeper exploration and extended itineraries. This trend is underpinned by airline capacity, with seat availability between India and Germany currently at approximately 93,447 seats, as per the GNTB Dashboard.
Germany’s 2025 Tourism Vision for India
Against this backdrop, the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) hosted a press event to present Germany’s tourism priorities for the Indian market in 2025. The event outlined a refined destination narrative focused on culture-driven travel, romantic experiences, seasonal journeys and region-led exploration, supported by curated travel propositions aligned with evolving Indian travel preferences.
Commenting on the initiative, Romit Theophilus, Director – Marketing & Sales Office, India, GNTO, said, “Indian outbound travel is evolving rapidly, with travellers today placing greater value on depth, relevance and personal connection rather than conventional sightseeing alone. We are seeing a clear preference for journeys that are immersive, thoughtfully paced and shaped around individual interests. Germany’s strength lies in its culturally rich regions, diverse landscapes and year-round experiences, which together allow travellers to curate journeys that are distinctive, meaningful and aligned with their evolving travel expectations.”
Culture, Romance and Seasonal Travel Experiences
Germany’s cultural landscape continues to play a central role in attracting Indian travellers. Through Cultureland Germany, visitors can explore historic town centres, world-renowned museums, architectural icons and a dynamic contemporary arts scene. Germany has held the distinction of being Europe’s leading cultural travel destination for ten consecutive years, underscoring the breadth and depth of its cultural offering.
Alongside culture-led travel, Germany is strengthening its appeal as a year-round romantic and honeymoon destination, offering tailored experiences across seasons, from spring and summer countryside escapes to autumnal landscapes and festive winter settings. The Seasons Greetings programme further adds to this appeal by spotlighting Germany’s Christmas traditions, festive markets and seasonal celebrations, creating distinctive winter travel experiences for Indian visitors.
As Indian outbound travel continues to mature, Germany’s tourism strategy for 2025 reflects a clear alignment with emerging travel behaviours, longer stays, region-focused exploration and experience-led journeys. Backed by robust connectivity, steady arrival volumes and strong engagement levels, Germany is well placed to deepen its relationship with the Indian market and inspire travel experiences that extend beyond the conventional.
