Jordan is increasingly spotlighting India as a priority tourism market, with long-standing historical, cultural, and economic ties binding the two nations. The roadshow aimed to deepen these connections and present Jordan as a destination that offers something for every kind of traveller. Speaking at the event, His Excellency Yusuf Abdelghani, the Ambassador of Jordan to India, highlighted the importance of this growing relationship: “Jordan and India share not only strong diplomatic and economic relations, but also historical and cultural bonds that go back thousands of years. Now, we want to build even stronger bridges through tourism.”
Jordan’s offerings are vast and varied from spiritual retreats and historical explorations to adventure, luxury, and wellness tourism. Travellers can walk through time at iconic sites like Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, or explore the ancient Roman city of Jerash. For adventure lovers, Jordan offers desert glamping in Wadi Rum, diving in the Red Sea at Aqaba, scenic hiking trails, and relaxing natural hot springs in Ma’in. Wellness seekers can practice yoga under the starry skies of Dana and Wadi Rum, or indulge in rejuvenating Dead Sea treatments using world-renowned mineral-rich mud and salts. Ambassador Abdelghani emphasized Jordan’s unique positioning: “Jordan is a land of contrasts from deserts to seas, mountains to ancient cities. We offer Indian travellers the rare chance to explore deep history, natural beauty, and luxurious wellness all in one journey.”
Efforts are underway to make travel to Jordan even more seamless and accessible for Indian tourists. Royal Jordanian Airlines now operates direct flights from Mumbai to Amman, with a new Delhi–Amman route scheduled to launch in early 2026. Additionally, Jordan has introduced an e-visa facility, enabling Indian travellers to apply online through the Ministry of Interior portal, removing the need for in-person embassy visits. Ambassador Abdelghani noted: “We understand that ease of travel is a key factor in destination choice. With new direct flights and a streamlined e-visa process, we are making Jordan more accessible than ever for our Indian friends.” To further encourage travel, promotional fares and attractive travel packages are also being offered.
Jordan is also emerging as a preferred destination for MICE tourism, destination weddings, and film productions. The Dead Sea region, the lowest point on Earth, is fast becoming a hotspot for international conferences and corporate retreats, combining tranquility with luxury. Jordan’s dramatic landscapes are ideal for destination weddings, with Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea offering breathtaking backdrops for Indian couples seeking memorable celebrations. Jordan has also become a favored location for international and Bollywood filmmakers, with movies such as The Martian and several Indian productions filmed in its cinematic landscapes. Ambassador Abdelghani highlighted the growing interest: “We see tremendous potential in MICE, wedding, and film tourism from India. Our landscapes are breathtaking, our service is world-class, and our hospitality is heartfelt. We are ready to support Indian productions and events not just with locations, but with logistics and hospitality that exceed expectations.”
Beyond tourism, Jordan and India share a rich cultural heritage and people-to-people connections. Today, over 25,000 Indians live and work in Jordan, and thousands of Jordanian students have studied in India. These shared ties enhance the sense of familiarity and comfort Indian travellers feel when visiting the country. “Indians feel at home in Jordan,” said Ambassador Abdelghani. “Our cultures and values are so close — many Indian visitors are surprised by how familiar everything feels. Jordanians know and respect India deeply — it’s part of our education, our history, and our heart.”
Looking ahead, Jordan aims not just to promote itself as a destination but as a transformative experience. With its ancient heritage, breathtaking natural landscapes, spiritual serenity, modern luxury, and genuine hospitality, the country is poised to welcome more Indian travellers than ever before. Ambassador Abdelghani concluded by extending a warm invitation: “We invite our Indian friends to discover Jordan — not just as a destination, but as a second home. Whether it’s for adventure, wellness, weddings, film, or faith — Jordan has something meaningful to offer everyone.”
Whether it’s a desert adventure, a spiritual pilgrimage, a pre-wedding photoshoot, a luxury retreat, or a wellness escape, Jordan offers something for every kind of traveller. With improved accessibility, direct flight connectivity, and a focused roadmap for tourism growth, Jordan is ready to welcome India with open arms.
Munnmun Marwah, COO of Think Strawberries, official representatives of the Jordan Tourism Board in India, added “India is a vibrant and diverse market with a deep appreciation for meaningful travel experiences. Jordan resonates strongly with Indian travellers — not just for its beauty, but for the warmth of its people and the richness of its culture. We are excited to continue building this bridge, offering unique and unforgettable journeys that connect both our worlds.”
