By 2030, the Mahindra Group subsidiary Mahindra Holidays And Resorts India Ltd (MHRIL) hopes to have 10,000 rooms. In an interview with PTI, Anish Shah, the managing director and CEO of the Mahindra Group, stated that the company is branching out into the travel and tourist industry in addition to vacation ownership.
According to PTI, MHRIL, which is headed by Managing Director and CEO Manoj Bhat, has 5,794 keys as of now and intends to add roughly 1,000 rooms this fiscal year in order to reach its goal of 10,000 rooms by the 2030 fiscal year. The 10,000 rooms by 2030 goal, according to Shah, is “conservative” considering the surge in internal travel following the COVID-19 outbreak.
As a firm considers several choices to move beyond vacation ownership, it is an excellent target at the moment. Beyond its Club Mahindra business, the corporation is investigating alternative models to increase its competitiveness. “We will have a better idea of how we can play this in a much larger way once those options are considered, further developed, and combined with ‘here’s what the model is going to be’,” Shah stated.
“As we can see from all of the comments we receive from guests who visit our resorts, we have succeeded in achieving our very clear goal of being the leading leisure hospitality player in India. We’ve been able to provide families with that wonderful experience in leisure places, and we hope to expand on that on a much wider scale,” he added. When asked why the company had only stayed at Club Mahindra and avoided traditional hotels, Shah responded, “That has been the model of the past, but the business is looking at various options now and is exploring whatmodels make sense and how we can expand beyond just the vacation ownership that we are doing (now). According to India’s Tourism Ministry, 9.95 million foreign visitors came in 2024, with Americans accounting for the majority of these visits.
