The MoU was formalized at Stall No. D29 at the OTOAI booth, with Mr. Mostafa Shafie Shakib, Chairman of ITOA, and Mr. Riaz Munshi, President of OTOAI, acting as the primary signatories. Key officials from both associations, including Mr. Shravan Bhalla, Vice President of OTOAI, and Ms. Monia Kapoor, Joint Secretary of OTOAI witnessed this important ceremony.
The partnership aims to foster mutual tourism growth, create sustainable business opportunities, and promote cultural exchanges between India and Iran. The presence of a high-level Iranian delegation, led by Mr. Shakib, underscored the significance of this alliance, signaling strong intent to collaborate on future tourism ventures.
Speaking at the event, OTOAI President Riaz Munshi emphasized the importance of such partnerships in unlocking new tourism potential: “India and Iran share deep historical and cultural connections. This MoU will allow us to explore new markets, enhance tourist experiences, and build lasting synergies between our two countries.”
Mr. Mostafa Shafie Shakib echoed similar sentiments, expressing optimism about the future of India-Iran tourism cooperation: “The Iranian Tour Operators Association is proud to collaborate with OTOAI, and we are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring for both our members and the broader tourism sectors in our countries.”
The MoU signing was one of the key highlights of ITB India 2024, reaffirming the role of international travel trade exhibitions as catalysts for important industry collaborations.
