In addition, the University City area will host a Food trucks zone, known as the Light Village with a variety of outlets, providing a vibrant space for local businesses and families. The light shows draw inspiration from Sharjah’s cultural heritage, showcasing scenes that depict the emirate’s progress in education, arts, communication, environment, history, science, knowledge, and future visions.
The performances at the festival explore the role and future significance of art and heritage, science and education in the world, emphasising the importance of culture and knowledge in overcoming global challenges. Islamic heritage is celebrated with displays incorporating geometry, decorations, calligraphy, and patterns of Islamic arabesque inscriptions found in Sharjah’s architectural gems. Aiming to promote sustainability, all the lights and projectors to be used in the festival will be certified for environmental compliance. Furthermore, adjacent lights will be turned off, leading to a preservation of up to 60% of power in the area. This eco-conscious step marks yet another noteworthy milestone in the continuous journey of the Sharjah Light Festival.
