On the basis of the efforts and persuasion of the association, most of the airlines have refunded the airfares to the member travel agents as per the requests received. However, many airlines, such as, Air India, Go Air, SpiceJet, Thai Airways, Kenya Airways etc., are not yet processing refunds as desired or as per the directions of the Hon. Supreme Court and DGCA. The process of persuasion is still on by TAAI.
“We have been receiving updates from various authorities, airlines, consumer bodies and passengers that, inspite of full refunds being processed by the airlines, member agents are not settling the account of the travellers. With regards to the refunds already received by agents from the airlines, we would request our members to kindly settle their account with the customers/ travellers, who too are in despair. Members are at liberty to charge a nominal fee/service charge for their efforts of undertaking a tedious and complicated process of processing the refunds through the RA/GDS mechanism on the IATA portal or with the low cost carriers. We are confident that all members shall act appropriately and in the best interest of the trade at large,” said Jyoti Mayal, President, TAAI in a statement released by the association.
