The Taiwan Pavilion at ITB India attracted numerous industry players, facilitating discussions on cooperation opportunities across sectors, including business travel, incentive travel, and wedding photography. As the global tourism market rebounds, Taiwan is ready to welcome Indian travellers with open arms.
Cindy Chen, Acting Director of Taiwan Tourism Administration, Singapore Office said,” The ITB INDIA travel show is an exciting opportunity for us to present Taiwan’s warm hospitality, rich cultural experiences and robust infrastructure. We are here to strengthen our collaboration with Indian travel partners which will lead to new opportunities for both markets. We’re eager to welcome more Indian tourists and create unforgettable journeys tailored just for them”.
She shared her insights in an exclusive chat with BOTT. Here is what she had to say-
India as a source market and strategies to promote Taiwan as a tourist destination
We look at India as a potential market since it has a huge population. In terms of visitors, if we compare them with the same period of 2019, there has been almost a comeback of 92 per cent.
Due to the lack of direct connectivity to Taiwan and the need to apply for a visa, it is not convenient for Indian people to travel to Taiwan but we are working hard on it. Indian travellers can choose for transfers in Singapore, Bangkok or Hong Kong. They can opt for Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways or Singapore Airlines. We recently opened the Taiwan Tourism Information Centre in Mumbai. We have our GSA who represents us here. They are working closely with the local travel agents, airlines and the media.
Efforts to promote MICE
We are targeting the MICE market in India as there are a lot of companies here. We would like to encourage these companies to have incentive programs in Taiwan. We have suitable hotels and convention centres which can accommodate various group sizes for companies to host their events.
