This year our towering Christmas tree brings to life a rare gem, an age old crystal bead made in India. The tree is made of 60,000 glass beads, hand crafted by the artisans of Purdilnagar and Firozabad. The Glass bead making came to India during the 17th century by the Mughal empire , the artisans to date continue to craft the beads with the same technique, love and passion. While the 20 feet tall Christmas tree stands tall with pride of being beautifully bejeweled by these glass beads, it showcases an age old industry that is almost extinct in this global bazaar. A visual treat with an impact, it urges the community to embrace and revive our age old craft and support the families that have for generations made our world beautiful.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms.Meena Bhatia, Vice President & General Manager stated, “Each year we light up a Christmas tree that is not only a work of art but is an impactful story with a strong and responsible social message. From the tree that supported ‘Save the Girl Child’ initiative, to another that revived the lost ‘Charpoy Art’ of India communicating the message of responsible cyber waste management to the radiant ‘Tree of happiness’. Our Christmas tree have always evoked a feeling of camaraderie, humanity and humility, in the backdrop of our rich and vibrant culture.”
The ombre of the shades of Greens spreads a feeling of prosperity and freshness; the beads evoke intrigue as no two beads are alike, it is a wonder how these beads are created. Our Christmas tree also offers an incredible experience this year, it is not just a visual treat but a walk through tree. The magical experience is surely going to stimulate all your senses and we are certain our guests will walk out immersed in the sounds, sights and aromas of the festive fervor, a true celebration of the spirit Of Christmas The Tree has been conceptualised and curated by a young Artist, Nehmat Mongia, a student of National Institute of Design.
