Presenting the budget, Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manisha Sisodia also said that five crore has been allotted to make tourist spots safe for women. “This includes measures such as the installation of CCTV cameras at entry points of all tourist spots, lighting up of dark spots with LEDs, and posting of uniform clad guards at all tourist spots of DTTDC, facility of mobile vans at various tourist sites,” said Sisodia
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal says the city will bid for the Olympics in 2048. He says the government will do anything to make it possible. In the ‘deshbhakti’ budget, the AAP government has decided to set up 500 high-mast Tricolours across the city. There will be allocation of funds for a series of events to be held across the city over a span of 75 weeks – starting March 12 – to celebrate 75 years of independence in India, says Sisodia.
Sisodia, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented a budget outlay of ₹69,000 crore, which is the highest till date. Based on the theme of patriotism, the Delhi government will allocate ₹10 crore for programmes on the life of BR Ambedkar which will be observed during the 75-week ‘deshbhakti’ celebrations, he added. Another ₹10 crore will be allocated for programmes and events on the life of Bhagat Singh, he also said.
