In today’s era, there is no dearth of dining out options available for the millennials. From pubs, to clubs, to restaurants, to resto-bars and many more – the quirkier the joint, the more traffic it is likely to attract. The latest landmark to join the bandwagon is Unplugged Courtyard Gurgaon, which has become a hit with not just the gen x but also families and children alike, thanks to its mind-boggling variety of cuisine and dishes available. Here’s our review of the new food-hub in NCR…

When they tell you Unplugged Courtyard Gurgaon is a landmark joint, you would normally dismiss the notion imagining it to be yet another restaurant that must be part of a multi-storey building. Nothing prepares you for the vast expanse of land, a stand-alone property sprawled across a huge area and divided into various seating zones – each with a set target audience and speciality of its own. Generously spaced over 15,000 square feet and spanning two levels, reflecting an urban chic vibe, the best part about eating out at Unplugged Courtyard Gurgaon is that there are no parking blues and also the facility of valet parking! The restaurant has a seating capacity of over 375 covers and also boasts a terrace area, a secret garden and a quirky bus, which gives the space a distinctly ‘comfy’ feel, without ever seeming over-designed.
Without controlling its skill to switch from a relaxed daytime hangout to a refined nightfall space, the environs at Unplugged Courtyard Gurgaon mirror multi-faceted creativity. You can select the air you desire, choose from the many siting options available, as you make tête-à-têtes over a drink or pondering over the menu concentrating an interesting mix of traditional traveller’s fare and new age cooking made from the finest ingredients and cultivated to create the most enjoyable taste, savour and smoothness.
I started my meal at Unplugged Courtyard Gurgaon by simply munching upon some loaded nachos as Mr. Arvind, the GM of the property briefed me on the various offerings and specialities of the restaurant. Requesting the chef to keep the portions small, we started our sampling of the many starters and were surely not disappointed. The Malawari fish tikka, peri-peri chicken tikka, chicken dimsums, gelouti seekh with ulta tawa paratha and cheese and potato fingers were all done to perfection – the spices were in check and the food was presented in an interesting fashion with decent proportions – doing complete justice to the pricing. In you are a non-alcoholic, there are plenty of fresh cocktail options to wash the dishes down with. Too full after savouring a huge variety of snacks we only had space available for savouring some lamb biryani, which we were assured is their speciality and after tasking it, we were certainly not disappointed. If sea food excites you, don’t leave the place without tasting the tandoori South Indian spiced prawns with pancakes, which is indeed cooked to perfection. For deserts, the options are not as many as perhaps you would like but the Avalanche of Chocolate, makes up for the limited variety of deserts with its flavour and size!
Corporate Chef Akshay Bhardwaj and Chief Managing Director, Eastman Colour Restaurants Dinesh Arora have put a decent spot that is fast becoming a famous hangout place, even in this heat – thanks to the many mist-fans and live music (different band plays each day, especially weekends), which keeps the visitors enthralled and keep coming back for more. The food, the ambience and the music, surely sets Unplugged Courtyard Gurgaon ahead of the rest. BOTT would highly recommend you to give it a try, preferably over the weekend.
